The BoxHook™ is assembled from modular parts on the ground and lifted completely assembled in a single lift into a wind turbine nacelle, using the GenHook™ crane. Once assembled it has a hoisting capacity of 75 tons to enable generator and gearbox replacements on most 3MW and 4MW range wind turbines. The BoxHook™ can also be used for lifting smaller major components on larger turbines.
The BoxHook™ is designed as Zero-Emission-Crane™, fully powered by the Wind Turbine back feed power circuit. As an option the BoxHook™ can be supplied with a battery pack to increase hoisting speeds. With a battery pack the crane has a hybrid power supply, which means that during lowering of loads with the hook, electrical energy is regenerated to charge the batteries. Any superfluous energy can also be fed back in to the poer circuit of the wind turbine. Foundations for a wide variety of wind turbines can be provided with the BoxHook™ also supporting its assist cranes.
The BoxHook™ is normally supplied in two standard ISO containers.
