KenzFigee delivers fully tailored offshore crane to Besix
KenzFigee delivers a fully custom-tailored offshore boom hoist crane equipped with its first remote condition-based monitoring system to client BESIX in Dubai.
BESIX Group, headquartered in Brussels, Belgium awarded KenzFigee the contract for the replacement of the existing ringer crane on board of its SEP (self-elevating platform) ‘RIMA’ to maximize performance in lifting capacity and speed of work. The award decision was based on KenzFigee’s technical capabilities and expertise, which were fully in line with BESIX specifications and requirements.
This fully tailored lattice boom crane is designed, engineered and built by KenzFigee and delivered to Dubai, where it has been assembled and tested for final acceptance on board of BESIX SEP ‘RIMA’. The unique features of the crane are that it has a large hoisting capacity of 240 tons compared to its own weight of only 200 tons and a boom reach of no less than 73 meters (with extension). Furthermore, the lattice crane is equipped with a double main winch and a split block for pile upending activities and an extra boom section of 15 meters to extend the fixed 58-meter boom.
Robert de Rijcke, CCO of KenzFigee, said: “We are proud that BESIX awarded KenzFigee the contract for the delivery of this unique custom-tailored offshore lattice crane, which is equipped with our first remote condition-based monitoring system. This system will enable our client to make their day-to-day operations more efficient. It will keep control of maintenance and thus prevents interruption of operations, which finally results in increased productivity. At Kenz Figee we are convinced that our remote Condition-Based Monitoring systems will help our clients to accelerate the path to industry 4.0.”
Mr. Gerd Casteleyn MSc., Director Plant and Equipment at BESIX, commented: “KenzFigee’s crane has now joined BESIX’s marine fleet in the Middle East. It is a state-of-the-art custom-made machine, complying with the highest quality standards with regards to operations, maintenance and safety. The commissioning tests are promising, with performances exceeding the initial requirements. Now we look forward to using it on our marine works throughout the world! Also, as a client, we have enjoyed the great professionalism and the open collaboration between all stakeholders from the first day to the last.”
